Championing Digital Innovation: Sinet Akih’s Leadership at SDG Innovate Cameroon 2025

Akih Sinet at SDG Innovate

Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower,” Steve Jobs once said. That conviction resonates deeply with Sinet Akih, a talented product marketing manager and digital innovator whose rise from Bamenda to the national stage reflects the power of resilience and vision. In August 2025, Sinet’s journey reached another milestone as he joined the distinguished jury of SDG Innovate Cameroon 2025, where he helped evaluate groundbreaking digital projects designed to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event, held on August 22, 2025, in Yaoundé, brought together more than 1,000 participants in person and thousands more online. From a pool of over 200 applications nationwide, 10 finalists were selected to pitch their ideas to a panel of experts. With this year’s theme, Resilience, SDG Innovate once again demonstrated its role as Cameroon’s leading platform for sustainable innovation and youth entrepreneurship.

Guiding the Next Generation of Innovators

As a jury member, Sinet Akih applied his deep expertise in product design, marketing, and ecosystem building to assess the strength of each finalist’s solution. He and his fellow jurors evaluated projects based on innovation, scalability, and community impact. Their deliberations resulted in the selection of three winning projects, each receiving seed funding and mentorship support. The first-place winner earned the chance to pitch at the New Generation Leaders Summit in Dubai, showing how homegrown ideas can achieve global recognition.

A Career Built on Innovation with Impact

Sinet’s contribution to the jury drew upon a career defined by building products that matter. His early leadership in launching the Nang Health App gave young people across Cameroon confidential, stigma-free access to reproductive health information. At BitSika, a Pan-African fintech platform, he spearheaded strategies that attracted more than 10,000 new users in Cameroon, opening doors to cross-border financial services for first-time fintech adopters.

Today, as co-founder of Jappcare Autotech, he is addressing one of Cameroon’s silent crises: road accidents caused by poorly maintained vehicles. By integrating vehicle diagnostics, maintenance scheduling, and spare parts e-commerce, Jappcare offers a practical, scalable solution to road safety while creating new economic opportunities.

Building Communities and Ecosystems

Beyond startups, Sinet has committed himself to empowering others. Through Mountain Hub, he has helped early-stage entrepreneurs refine business models and scale their ventures. With the Bamenda Community Challenge (BCC), he has created opportunities for young innovators in one of Cameroon’s most crisis-affected regions, offering mentorship, workshops, and seed support to bring their ideas to life.

On a national scale, his leadership at the Cameroon International Tech Summit (CITS) has been transformative. In 2024, CITS impacted more than 20,000 youth across all ten regions of Cameroon, culminating in a landmark gathering of 10,000+ innovators, policymakers, and investors in Yaoundé. Backed by partners such as UNDP, GIZ, and the U.S. Embassy, CITS has become a trusted platform for digital transformation, and Sinet’s role in program design and mentorship was central to its success.

Inspiring Resilience for the Future

By serving on the jury of SDG Innovate Cameroon 2025, Sinet reinforced the event’s mission of empowering innovation and inspiring resilience. His insights provided young entrepreneurs with practical guidance, ensuring they left with more than recognition—they left with actionable pathways to scale their impact.

As Cameroon advances toward the National Development Strategy 2020–2030 and the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, leaders like Sinet Akih exemplify how resilience and talent can shape the nation’s digital future. At SDG Innovate, we are proud to spotlight his role in advancing youth-led innovation and strengthening an ecosystem where ideas grow into transformative solutions for communities across Cameroon.
