TANCHEDA is a youth-led initiative that aims to design, build, and eventually mass-produce affordable solar-powered electric cars using local materials and skills. The project combines green energy and local manufacturing to tackle poverty and inequality while promoting sustainability.
The name TANCHEDA is a combination of the founders’ names
— Tanui and Chedjou — symbolizing unity and youth collaboration. We have already developed a working prototype of the TANCHEDA electric car powered by a 1500W motor and solar energy. The car is designed to:
• Use solar panels for charging (off-grid solution),
• Run with minimal operating cost,
• Be locally assembled using skills in mechatronics, design engineering, and automobile repair,
• Promote job creation by training and employing young technicians and engineers
